= теломерный повторпоследовательность нуклеотидов, специфичная для концов хромосом (см. теломера), представленная многочисленными повторами олигонуклеотидов и необходимая для завершения репликации концевых последовательностей хромосом, а также играющая защитную роль; в частности, на концах хромосом высших организмов присутствует Т. п. (ТТАГГГ) n, которая повторяется свыше 1000 раз. Впервые Т. п. были описаны у инфузории Tetrahymena pyriformis (по 30—70 повторов гексануклеотида ААЦЦЦЦ) Э. Блэберном и Дж.
